As a Taiwan-born individual who immigrated to the United States, I have come to understand the impact of cultural differences on beliefs and perceptions. Through my experiences, I have observed how these cultural differences can create conflicts between immigrant parents and their children. This has led me to become a culturally-competent therapist, one who is sensitive to and respectful of the unique beliefs, perspectives, and values of clients from diverse racial, ethnic, or regional backgrounds.
